Two Women Make History One Spacewalk at a Time
On October 21st, two female NASA astronauts, Christina Koch and Jessica Meir, are scheduled to participate in the fourth space walk in the ten that are scheduled for the next three months. Out of the 200+ spacewalks that have been completed, only fifteen women have ever participated, and each of those times they had been accompanied by male astronauts. During this walk they will be swapping out old batteries on the space station’s solar panels. The walk was originally scheduled to happen in March 2019, but was postponed due to a lack of properly fitting spacesuits.
Why is this event significant for women’s rights? We are in 2019 and there are still so many things that women haven’t done yet (eg. win a presidential election) why do you think this is? How might this inspire the next generation of women to follow in their footsteps?

ReplyDeleteOne main suggestions for your blog post: link an article to your post and also quote from it. This will build your credibility as a writer.
I wrote about the same thing I think it is really cool how these women can inspire so many people and girls who are interested in STEM. This spacewalk was successfully completed and had many people hopeful for the future.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really interesting topic! I think that this will inspire more girls to pursue STEM subjects, and later, careers, and encourage more people to show their interest in similar areas.
